Students are the heart of any school. It is important to try to accommodate them and their choices to the fullest. Students usually have core and elective courses that they can choose from and usually
pick a variety of courses making their course choices unusually unique. The master scheduler needs to build a school schedule that can accommodate each of these student union choices.
Prioritizing
It is possible to priorities the courses so that a course like “Marching Band”, which few students would choose, and where know do you really want these students to have this course and to give it a high priority than they’d say weightlifting.
Study hall
Students that do not have a full schedule, have study hall in between. We would like to have the study halls during the day. Some students may have more than one study hall depending on the course selection. In this case we do not want the study lessons to be adjacent to each other, but rather separated with other academic courses.
Student preferences.
Sometimes, especially in small schools or specialized schools like language schools; students (or teachers) would like to assign a preference as to which teachers they prefer or rather would not be in the class with. In the case of language schools, some students might understand a certain teacher’s accent better than another teacher’s accent. E.g.: there no sense in putting an Indian student with a teacher that has a very southern accent, if an Indian teacher is available.
Student count
It is possible to assign a student number count to an individual student. By default, the student is counted as one, but sometimes a student with, say ADD, may count as a value of two because the student needs more individual attention. If the average of the class is 20 you might have 16 actual students in the class, but the student count or attention needed by the teacher would be 20.
Starting and ending times
Some students in specific circumstances might want to arrive late or leave early from the school. This can before a variety of reasons; from living far away, to students doing a career practical or apprenticeship at an actual business. They would thus not have the last lesson of the day and leave earlier.
Backup or reserve courses.
Elective courses can be priorities and additional backup courses calculated for each elective course. E.g. First Union cannot fit into Piano as the second choice might be Singing and his third choice might be Guitar. Does if the student cannot fit into piano the alternative course would be automatically tested to be able to create the best possible fit.
This is also a great way to be able to balance out course class sizes. You may see that the group is too big and then be able to move the slider, to change the course size by giving some of the students their alternative course selection.
Student course changes
It is very easy to make course changes to students; not only would it show which courses are available in that block, but if we run a full check to see all available courses across the board, this would open up the mount of choices considerably for students wanting to change.
Student restrictions
Restricts certain students from being in the same course together; some students just don’t get along and it can be anything from being buried to
Walking scheduling
As new students enroll into the school, it is very easy to make the course selection and enroll them within a few minutes via the Master Schedule.
